A scrumptious, low fat, low GI smoothie which I found in the October 2005 issue of the Australian magazine ‘Delicious’ and have adapted. Because it’s different from other smoothies I’ve made, I have posted it here for safekeeping – and for the 2005 Zaar World Tour.
This chunky Greek salad recipe is quick to make and packed with protein. The wholemeal pitta makes a high-fibre accompaniment, but feel free to improvise and serve it with any Mediterranean-style bread or sides. Each serving provides 205 kcal, 10.5g protein, 10.1g carbohydrate (of which 8.3g sugars), 12.7g fat (of which 4.2g saturates), 3.9g fibre and 1.75g salt.
These protein-packed stuffed peppers make a filling vegetarian meal that’s full of good-for-you ingredients. If you don’t like goats’ cheese these they also work well with feta. With a GI of 41 this meal is high protein, low GI and provides 373 kcal per portion.
A twist on the classic New York-style Waldorf salad with chicken and a creamy, but low-calorie, garlic dressing. Each serving provides 515 kcal, 55.5g protein, 42g carbohydrates (of which 42g sugars), 12.5g fat (of which 2.5g saturates), 5.5g fibre and 0.8g salt. With a GI of 58 this meal is high protein, low GI.
