This tried-and-true stuffing recipe has been handed down several generations. Bread cubes, buttery mushrooms, celery for a bit of crunch.

Ingredients

  • 2 cups (1lb) of butter
  • 2 cups of celery stalks and leaves, chopped
  • 1 cup of minced onion
  • ½ lb (about 3 cups) of fresh sliced mushrooms
  • 14 cups of dry bread cubes
  • 1 tablespoon of sage
  • 1 tablespoon of salt
  • 1 teaspoon of pepper
  • 1 teaspoon of poultry seasoning

Instructions

  1. In a skillet, melt butter

  2. Add celery, onions and mushrooms.

  3. Cook until onion is yellow, stirring often.

  4. Stir in some bread cubes and remove from heat.

  5. In a large bowl, stir together remaining ingredients.

  6. Add cooked mixture and lightly toss together.

  7. Cool before stuffing turkey.
