Bread Dumplings

This is my grandmother’s recipe. She grew up in Austria, moving to the United States when she married. She always served these with roast beef and gravy.

Liisa’s Vienna Bread – ABM (almost)

This is my Vienna bread recipe that is the standard request at potlucks, dinners and my kids favorite (they’d eat this over store bought any day). I do use my bread machine to do the dirty work–but I love the smell of the bread baking from my oven..so I prefer to bake it there. I especially like to make toast with lots of butter the next day (if there is any left). The taste is really good and goes well with any meal.

Austrian Mushroom Soup

Fresh mushrooms cooked in homemade beef stock, enriched with sherry and garnished with chopped chives. An easy elegant first course dinner soup or lunch. No time to make stock? Use canned broth and add butter for an almost instant soup.

Viennese Beet Preserves

This would be delicious with lamb or pork, also with curry, rice, or noodles. Use your imagination! I don’t remember where I got this, I like to collect unusual recipies.
