Australian Cheese, Garlic and Chive Damper

Damper is a traditional Australian bread, made without yeast, and commonly made on a campfire in a cast iron camp oven. This is tweeked from Margaret E. Walker article in Outback Camping When Margaret was asked her what kind of tasty cheese, and learned that the word ‘tasty’ is used in Australia the way ‘sharp’ is used in the US. We thanked Margaret for helping us learn and had a good laugh at the thought of eating non-tasty cheese.

The Great Australian Pikelets

Yummy golden little pancakes served warm with jam or honey. Every Australian would have made these many times throughout their youth. My son had his little friend over today and I ended up making a second batch because the boys gobbled them up and begged for more.

Banana Shake / Smoothie

This is a smooth healthy shake/smoothie that everyone could enjoy. Little Miss (DD) loves her to drink banana shakes/smoothies so I had to slightly modify this recipe for her to be able to enjoy it. I used a very ripe banana and didn’t have a fresh orange at home so I used orange juice. I used a hand held blender to pulp the ingredients together. Original recipe comes from ‘The Little Book of Alcohol-Free Cocktails’ by Hamlyn
