Velvety cocoa, melted chocolate, and a swirl of homemade salted caramel—a cozy sip of warmth and indulgence in every cup.

Ingredients
- 2 cups of milk, whole
- 1/4 cup of cocoa powder (unsweetened)
- 1/4 cup of granulated sugar
- 1/4 cup of caramel, sauce (plus extra for drizzling)
- 1/2 teaspoon of vanilla extract
- 1/2 cup of chocolate chips, or chopped chocolate
- 1/4 teaspoon of salt, coarse like kosher or sea salt
- heavy cream, whipped for topping
Instructions
Heat milk In a medium saucepan, heat the milk over medium heat until it's warm but not boiling.
Mix dry ingredients In a separate bowl, mix together the cocoa powder and sugar. Gradually whisk this mixture into the warm milk, stirring constantly to avoid lumps.
Add Add the chocolate chips or chopped chocolate to the saucepan and continue to whisk until the chocolate is completely melted and the mixture is smooth.
Stir in Stir in the caramel sauce, vanilla extract, and sea salt. Continue to heat the mixture until it's hot but not boiling, whisking to combine all the ingredients thoroughly.
Simmer and stir Once the hot chocolate is well-combined and heated through, remove it from the heat.
Pour Pour the salted caramel hot chocolate into mugs. If desired, top each mug with whipped cream, an extra drizzle of caramel sauce
