I found this web on the net recently (I was on a Basque kick). I have not tried it out yet, but I am sucker for anything with lentils.
Conchs are quite popular in South Florida, as most there come from the Bahamas, were they are plentiful. If you cannot get frozen conchs, chopped clams may be substituted. If using chopped clams, add them at the last moment to keep them tender. The chowder is chunky, spicy, and robust with flavor – goes great with toasted bread rounds. Found recipe in, “The Whole Foods Market Cookbook.”
From Silk Road Cooking: A Vegetarian Journey by Najmieh Batmanglij. In the list of ingredients is also 1 Tbsp angelica powder but the recipe editor would not let me add it. This is untried by me so far, but I plan on making it this winter while pomegranites are in season. It took me quite some time to find angelica powder. I found it in a magic speciality shop.
Austria is a heaven for soup lovers, no meal starts without it. Fritattensuppe is traditionally a home made beef broth topped with rolled up and then thinly sliced strips of pancake, called frittatas. For this application, the pancake doesn’t have to be super thin and should be fried golden brown.
