This Brazilian breakfast treat is usually served around Christmastime. Being soaked overnight, it makes for a festive holiday brunch item. Cooking the toast long enough for the outside to get crispy still leaves it with a custard-like interior that melts in the mouth. This recipe comes from Chow, by Aïda Mollenkamp. I haven’t tried this recipe yet, but I may try it with less oil on a griddle, and although a topping is not mentioned in the recipe, I might use chocolate syrup and whipped cream. I have not made this recipe, but after having been to Brazil a few times, and after having found this recipe in the Brazilian Children’s Fund Cookbook (Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center), I had to add this to my recipes. I hope it turns out as good as those I’ve tried in Brazil!
This recipe comes courtesy of the domestic goddess herself Nigella Lawson. A beautifully flavoured flat omelet that can be eaten any time of day as a snack or light meal. We especially like it in crusty rolls/French stick as a hot sandwich, but would be great rolled up in a chapatti or just eaten flat on a plate.
This is the best baked chicken you have ever had. Once you taste this, you will be hooked. The secret ingredient is the cornflake crumbs. A recipe from a friend’s mom. I’m still saying thank you 15 years later.
Anything with coconut and lime just takes me right back to the tropics. I love this soup. It’s actually a Thai recipe and is very easy and quick create. Plus, I usually have these ingredients on hand anyway, so it is also inexpensive. Enjoy.
