Basque Chorizo and Lentil Soup
I found this web on the net recently (I was on a Basque kick). I have not tried it out yet, but I am sucker for anything with lentils.
Basque Salad
When I lived in Elko, Nevada, I dined at the local Basque houses quite regularly. The meals are served “family style” and every meal begins with soda bread, cabbage soup, and a green salad. I got this recipe from a former co-worker who use to work at one of the Basque houses, so it’s a pretty authentic recipe. It is simple, but has a lot of flavor, especially if you like garlic! This salad is best served with chicken or steak.
Barbadian Souse
A delicious and very traditional dish prepared in various ways throughout the Caribbean and even Scotland. This however, is our way – the general Barbados/Bajan method. A MUST TRY!!
Azerbaijani Plov (Azerbaijanian Pilaf)
Recipe from the Intourist Hotel in Baku, Azerbaijan. Found in my grandmother’s old recipe box. Dates from the ’60’s.
