Sugar Waffles
I mostly make these waffles for my kids to take to school on there birthdays, or just when I have friends coming around for a cup of coffee.

The original idea for this recipe came from the Bisquick website. I have made significant changes to it to adapt it to my healthy lifestyle. This recipe freezes extremely well, hence the large quantity. It’s great to make on a Sunday morning, and pull out of the freezer for a quick breakfast treat during the week.
This recipe is for Belgian Lukken cookies made in a Lukken iron (Lukijyer). You can also use an Italian Pizzelle maker which may be easier to find.
A recipe so authentic that I had to convert from grams and translate from French! These waffles are rich and delicious (don’t bother with syrup!), and the basic recipe is from a Belgian friend of mine.
Recently I have been puzzled when I read about an IBM Watson recipe “African style tiramisu with blue cheese”. I didn’t find this recipe, but I started reflecting about this combination. I had blue cheese and bacon at home, and decided to make my own “Watson style” waffle recipe. With the ingredients you can make 8 large Belgian waffles. With the cheese and the bacon they become really hearty. You can eat them immediately. Real Belgian waffles are made upside down. After you have filled it with the batter, you have to turn it upside down, so that it can distribute equally. After a few minutes you can return and continue to bake until ready.
