Karmir Pilaf – Armenian “Red Rice”

This dish is the definition of comfort food for Iranian-Armenians. Aromatic basmati rice, tender chunks of beef, and fluffy potatoes are cooked together in an unctuous spiced tomato sauce. My version has a little Tex-Mex twist: salsa!

Eech (Armenian Bulgur Side Dish)

A tangy, savory Armenian side dish that can be served warm, room temperature or cold. I first tried it at St. Mary’s Armenian Church in Florida at their food fest and became instantly hooked. It is a mixture of bulgur (cracked wheat), onions, tomatoes, peppers and parsley.

Armenian Stuffed Grape Leaves

These are meatless and served cold with lemon. Another one where you might need a partner. A good appetizer for a party!

Armenian Rice Pilaf

Very simple but delicious rice dish. You can add currants or nuts to make it fancy. If using canned chicken broth, use one can plus water to make the two cups.
