We love this dish. It is fast and easy, too! My mom would usually serve it with a variety of condiments to go on top like coconut, pineapple, raisins, bacon, peanuts, etc.
If you’ve ever been to Germany, then you will be familiar with the ever present “Schnell Imbiss” stands. Similar to a hot dog stand, the Schnell Imbiss stand sells a variety of wurst dishes including the famous “Currywurst,” a grilled bratwurst, cut into slices, and served with a ladleful of warm curry sauce. Curry sauce is also served over “pommes” (aka French Fries). This is the recipe, as told to me by a German Imbiss lady herself. It is really quite simple to make and keeps well in the fridge. The Imbiss stands always use mild curry powder to make this sauce. It tastes much better than the commerically prepared versions.
This recipe introduced me to the fantastic flavour of coconut milk and curry paste, its insane how good it is, don’t even think of skimping on any of the ingredients, you need them all. Fish sauce is super cheap and you can find it in the asian food isle in your supermarket. I hope you enjoy this as much as I do.
This is a favorite family recipe we received from a good friend. One batch is never enough! The recipe is so versatile that you can add tofu, mushrooms, or any other vegetables to your liking!
