Apfelkren – Austrian Horseradish Sauce
This is a condiment from Austria that is traditionally served with boiled beef. It is nice with smoked meats as well. If you want to make this milder, add more sour cream/cream.

Served cold with your favourite burgers, sausages or lamb. Yield depends on the size of jars you may use. You can grate the beetroot in a food processor. I suggest that you wear disposable gloves whilst dealing with the beetroot to avoid staining your hands. You can make this relish in advance and keep it in a sterilised sealed jar in the refrigerator
Many recipes call for it and it’s not readily available outside Australia but you can use this method to create your own peanut butter, pecan butter, brazil nut butter, hazelnut butter, almond butter or any nut butter you like. Am guessing at how much it will yield and listed it twice so RZ would recognize it. After looking at one of Jubes fish recipes, I have wondered if this could be used in savory dishes that have a butter and nut combination??
I found this on a New Zealand site. Sounded interesting so I’ve posted it to share. Quantity is only a guess as I haven’t made this myself yet, but I do intend to soon. Please remember that this is a preserve. The marmalade needs to sit for at least 6 weeks before you try it.
