Pecan Squares
A tried and true recipe for buttery, chewy, delicious Pecan Squares with a hint of cinnamon makes a delightful treat for a chilly day!

- 1/2 lb (2 sticks) of butter
- 1 cup of sugar
- 1 teaspoon of cinnamon
- 1 egg (yolk and white separated – both will be used)
- 1 3/4 cup of sifted flour
- 1/2 lb of pecans, cut lengthwise into thirds or chopped nuts
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350F
- Cream together butter and sugar until mixture is light and fluffy.
- Add the cinnamon and egg yolk, mix well.
- Add flour gradually, mixing only until smooth.
- Spread the dough smoothly into an 8×12 inch shallow pan.
- Brush with beaten egg white
- Sprinkle pecans, pressing them gently into the top of the dough.
- Bake at 350F for 20-35 minutes or until done.
- When almost cool, cut into squares or bars.
