Ingredients

Units Scale

Cherry Filling

  • 4 cups of cherries, fresh or frozen, pitted
  • 1/2 cup of granulated sugar
  • 2 tablespoons of cornstarch
  • 1 tablespoon of lemon, juice

Crumble Topping

  • 1 cup of rolled oats, old fashion
  • 1/2 cup of flour
  • 1/2 cup of brown sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon of cinnamon
  • 1/2 cup (1 stick) of butter, cold and cut into small pieces

Instructions

  1. Preheat
Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. Make filling
In a large bowl, combine the pitted cherries, granulated sugar, cornstarch, and lemon juice. Toss until the cherries are well coated, and then transfer the mixture to a greased baking dish.
  3. Make crumble
In another bowl, make the crumble topping by combining the rolled oats, flour, brown sugar, and cinnamon. Add the cold butter pieces and use your fingers or a pastry cutter to incorporate the butter until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs. Sprinkle the crumble topping evenly over the cherry mixture in the baking dish.
  4. Bake
Bake in the preheated oven for 35-40 minutes or until the topping is golden brown, and the cherry filling is bubbly.
  5. Cool
Remove from the oven and let it cool slightly before serving.
  6. Serve
Serve the cherry crumble warm, and you can enjoy it on its own or with a scoop of vanilla ice cream or a dollop of whipped cream.
