Prepare the fruitsStart by brewing a cup of strong black tea. Pour it over the mixed dried fruit in a bowl and let it soak overnight. This will allow the fruit to absorb the tea and become plump.

CombineMake a well in the center of the dry ingredients and add the soaked fruit (including any remaining tea), beaten egg, softened butter, and the activated yeast mixture.

MixMix everything together to form a dough. Knead the dough on a floured surface for about 10 minutes until it becomes smooth and elastic.
-
ProofPlace the dough in a greased bowl, cover it with a clean kitchen towel, and let it rise in a warm place for about 1-2 hours, or until it has doubled in size.

PreheatPreheat your oven to 350°F (180°C). Punch down the risen dough and shape it into a round loaf.
-
2nd ProofPlace the shaped dough on a baking sheet, cover it with the kitchen towel, and let it rise again for about 30 minutes.
