Ingredients
- ½–1 cup seasoned breadcrumbs
- 5 tablespoons grated Parmesan or Romano cheese
- 5 tablespoons minced parsley (dried works well for convenience)
- 2 tablespoons finely minced garlic
- ½ teaspoon salt
- ½ teaspoon freshly ground black pepper
- 2 lbs ground beef (avoid very lean varieties for best texture)
- 2 large eggs
- Ketchup, to taste (for topping or serving)
Instructions
Preheat the oven: Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) . Lightly grease a loaf pan or line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
Mix the ingredients: In a large bowl, combine the breadcrumbs, grated cheese, parsley, garlic, salt, and pepper. Add the ground beef and eggs. Mix everything gently with your hands until just combined—do not overmix to maintain tenderness.
Shape the loaf: Form the mixture into a loaf shape and place it into the prepared loaf pan or directly on the baking sheet.
Top with ketchup (optional): Spread ketchup evenly over the top if desired, or leave plain for a more traditional Italian flavor.
Bake: Bake in the preheated oven for 50–60 minutes , or until the internal temperature reaches 160°F (71°C) .
Rest and serve: Let the meatloaf rest for 5–10 minutes before slicing. Serve with a side of marinara sauce, roasted vegetables, or a crisp green salad for an authentic Italian-inspired meal.
