Tiffa’s Tail-Wagging Meatballs are a solution to an older dog with digestive issues. Ground meat, chopped chicken livers and brown rice simmered in bone broth.

  • Total Time: 45 minutes

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 lb of ground chicken
  • 1/2 cup of chicken livers, chopped
  • 1 cup of rice
  • 2 cups of bone broth, make sure it’s dog-safe, with no onions or excessive salt
  • 1/2 cup of carrot(s) finely chopped

Instructions

  • Combine Ingredients
In a large mixing bowl, combine the ground meat, uncooked brown rice, and chopped chicken livers. Add the optional vegetables if desired.
  • Mix until all ingredients are evenly distributed.
  • Form Meatballs
Using your hands, form the mixture into small, bite-sized meatballs, about 2 inches in diameter. This size will ensure they cook evenly.
  • Simmer in Bone Broth
In a large pot or deep skillet, heat the bone broth over medium heat until it starts to simmer.
  • Carefully place the meatballs into the simmering broth. Make sure they are in a single layer and not overcrowded.
  • Reduce the heat to low and let the meatballs simmer. Cover the pot and cook for about 25-30 minutes, or until the meatballs are cooked through and the rice is tender. You may need to occasionally stir gently to prevent sticking.
  • Cool and Serve
Once the meatballs are fully cooked, remove the pot from heat and allow them to cool.
  • Serve the meatballs to your dog in appropriate portions according to their size and dietary needs. You can also store the meatballs in the refrigerator for up to 3-4 days or freeze them for longer storage.

Notes

Always introduce new foods to your dog’s diet gradually and in moderation to monitor for any adverse reactions.
