Slow Cooker Sausage Dressing

This slow cooker sausage dressing frees up the oven and stove for the main courses! You can add mushrooms or apples if you like.

Ingredients

  • 1 loaf of bread – cubed and dried overnight
  • 1/2 teaspoon of salt – or to taste
  • 1/2 of pepper – or to taste
  • 1 teaspoon of poultry seasoning
  • 1 teaspoon of garlic powder
  • 1 medium onion – finely chopped
  • 2 celery ribs, including leafy part – chopped
  • 1/4 cup of chopped fresh parsley
  • 1/2 cup butter
  • 1lb bulk sausage
  • 1 1/2 cups chicken broth

Instructions

  1. In large bowl put 1 loaf bread broken up and dried overnight. Season crumbs with salt, pepper, poultry seasoning & garlic powder.
  2. In pan, saute 1 chopped onion, chopped celery and the chopped parsley in the butter.
  3. In another pan brown & break up the bulk sausage.
  4. Pour the sauteed vegetables and sausage over the bread crumbs. Moisten with the chicken broth.
  5. Place in slow cooker on low for about 3 hours. Give it a it a stir now and then checking to see if it is getting too dry around the edges. You can always add a little more broth to suit your taste.
