  • 1/2 cup vegetable shortening
  • 1/4 cup white sugar, plus
  • 2 tablespoons white sugar
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar, plus
  • 1 tablespoon brown sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla
  • 1/4 teaspoon water
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 1/4 cups flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 cup ghirardelli milk chocolate chips

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 375 degrees.

  2. Beat shortening in mixer until fluffy.

  3. Add both sugars and beat for several minutes; until light and fluffy.

  4. Add vanilla, water, and egg. Beat until incorporated.

  5. In a seperate bowl, mix together the flour, salt, and baking soda.

  6. SLOWLY add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture and stir on low for several seconds.

  7. Add the chocolate chips.

  8. Using a scooper, place each ball of dough onto a cookiesheet.

  9. Bake for 8-10 minutes; or until you stick a toothpick in a cookie and it comes out clean.
