This recipe for Pork Taco Meat brings together 2 -3 lbs pork steak, 1 tablespoon oil, chili powder, to taste (I use about a palmful) in a practical dish for home cooking. It takes about 1 hr 10 min to prepare and cook. It makes approximately 4 servings.

Equipment

Knife, cutting board, large skillet or pot, measuring cup

Ingredients

  • 2 -3 lbs pork steak
  • 1 tablespoon oil
  • chili powder, to taste (I use about a palmful)
  • salt, to taste
  • pepper, to taste
  • 1 (4 ounce) can tomato sauce
  • water, to cover

Instructions

  1. Cube the pork steaks, cutting off much of the fat.

  2. Brown the meat (and bones) in the oil.

  3. I usually let it go for about 30 minutes or so.

  4. Drain.

  5. I drain into a measuring cup and refrigerate, so I can scrape off the fat and put the juice back in.

  6. Add the seasonings, tomato sauce and water to cover (enough so you'll have a good gravy) Cover and let go until pork is tender.

  7. 40 minutes should do it, but I usually let it go and hour or two, so the pork just melts in your mouth.
