14 x 16-inch cookie sheet, large bowl, wax paper
Ingredients
- olive oil flavored cooking spray
- cornmeal, for dusting
- 1 (15 ounce) can black beans, drained
- 1/2 cup cooked brown rice
- 1/2 cup corn kernel
- 1/2 cup sunflower seeds, coarsely ground
- 1/4 cup cornmeal
- 1/4 cup wheat germ
- 1/2 cup celery, chopped
- 1 tablespoon oil (canola, flaxseed or olive)
- 1/2 cup salsa
- 1 tablespoon chili powder
- 1 tablespoon cilantro, chopped
Instructions
Preheat oven to 375°F.
Pan spray a 14" X 16" cookie sheet and dust with cornmeal.
In a large bowl combine all ingredients and mix thoroughly. Let the mixture stand for 15 minutes.
Divide and form into 8 patties using wax paper and place on baking sheet.
Bake 30 to 35 minutes or until browned and firm.
Serve as you would traditional ones with fat free condiments such as ketchup, mustard, lettuce, tomato, red onion, pickles, etc. on a whole wheat bun. Healthy and delicious!
