Aussie Eastern-Styled Potatoes

I found this one while wandering the website of the Australian Vegetarian Society’s website. It really reflects how modern Aussie cuisine has been influenced by other regions of the globe. Plan to try this soon but posting it untried for the Zaar World Tour. As presented it uses the original ingredients with my interpretation of how to prepare the dish. Cooking time is estimated.

Tomato, Cheese and Onion Muffins

This savory muffin is very crumbly texture. Could be eaten as a snack or put in kids lunch boxes. I used pizza tomato topping sauce for the tomato sauce and it worked well.

Baby Spinach, Pear and Walnut Salad

A refreshing and flavoursome salad which is visually appealing and complements any meat, rice or pasta dish. Adapted from a recipe in the latest issue of the Australian magazine ‘New Idea’. When I posted this initially, I just listed “pears” in the ingredients, but have since located the pears specified, and I have made the salad with those pears: CORELLA PEARS. See notes below.

Orange Shake’m up Cake

This recipe is for kids, it encourages kids to get involved in the kitchen and at the same time to have fun! – The idea of this recipe was from http://pubs.cas.psu.edu/Freepubs/pdfs/ua209.pdf – The kids (Little Miss (DD) and my niece) made this for their grandmother. They had lots of fun counting and watching the jar change when the different ingredients were added. They were quite proud of themselves when they seen the end result. We topped it with melted white chocolate with a little copha and orange food dye. Suggestion with the recipe is grease the base or use baking paper on the bottom.
