Bulgarian Stuffed Red Peppers With White Sauce

This is another favorite Bulgarian Recipe of mine. The sweetness of the roasted red bell peppers and the tangy yogurt white sauce make such an excellent combination. Super easy to make and yet so delicious full with flavor and fragrance. You can also make this without the meat.

Bosnian Ground Turkey Stuffed Bell Peppers

This is a yummy homey meal. This recipe usually use ground beef, however, I do not eat red meat so I use ground turkey and they come out lighter and less gready, and still delicious. You may prefer using ground beef.

Sarma – Bosnian Stuffed Cabbage Leaves

There are different versions of this recipe from all over the Balkans. You may be able to get sour cabbage from an Eastern European market; if not, you can boil the cabbage heads until soft enough to work with (the dish will taste slightly different – maybe add some vinegar to the broth). It is a very filling dish! Don’t worry about leftovers, they taste just fine reheated (use the stove, not the microwave)!

Djuvech (Bosnian Vegetables and Rice)

Originally this is Turkish meal, but since 400 years of Ottomans occupation of Croatian and Bosnian territories, many meals become “Croatian” or “Bosnian”. This is nice side dish to BBQ or roasted meat. You can make it more or less hot, as you like it.
