I do not like beans in any way, shape or form. That said, my fiancee found it very amusing when I ate this dish every day for lunch during our vacation in the Bahamas. It wasn’t until we returned that he let me know these ‘peas’ were actually beans!!
Make and share this Bahamian Macaroni and Cheese recipe from Food.com.
This recipe is a cultural staple in the Bahamas and throughout the Caribbean and is a family favorite(one which I have tweaked a bit over the years to suit various tastebuds) but its a wonderful bread/cake-like dish thats commonly served with soups and souses of all kinds (for breakfast, lunch or dinner)and can also be wonderful after dinner supper topped with jam and served with tea or cocoa. My family especially loves to eat it like a sandwich with cheese or peanut butter in the middle.Yum…the choices are endless. Hope you enjoy!!!!
Recipe from the Intourist Hotel in Baku, Azerbaijan. Found in my grandmother’s old recipe box. Dates from the ’60’s.
These are savory pancakes filled with grinded vegetables. Be sure to use fresh vegetables. I have used carrots and turnips and a spice combination of basil and curry. But please do not be shy to try yur favorite vegetables with this, i think anything really would work. This is perfect if yu have some things in your fridge you need to use up, it is really easy to make and great comfort food.
