Basque Lemonade

“What would summer be without lemonade? Actually, this can be considered more of a wine cooler and is definitely the kind of lemonade not to serve to children. With a massive heat wave being felt around the world, including Spain’s Basque region, it is most likely that the ‘ardaurgozatza’ is flowing daily.” Neither soak nor chill time is included. Basque Chorizo and Lentil Soup

I found this web on the net recently (I was on a Basque kick). I have not tried it out yet, but I am sucker for anything with lentils.

Basque Style Potatoes

Spicy potatoes. You can do these in the oven if you like, but I find the stovetop to be easier when I have a limited amount of time and/or energy. When I’m feeling especially lazy, I sub out a premixed creole seasoning for the seasonings. Always add the fresh garlic though.

Basque Salad

When I lived in Elko, Nevada, I dined at the local Basque houses quite regularly. The meals are served “family style” and every meal begins with soda bread, cabbage soup, and a green salad. I got this recipe from a former co-worker who use to work at one of the Basque houses, so it’s a pretty authentic recipe. It is simple, but has a lot of flavor, especially if you like garlic! This salad is best served with chicken or steak.
