I have never tried this recipe in a slow cooker but I think it could easily be adapted . Cook the shanks on low all day, have the beans prepared and finish the last steps before serving. Great taste, don’t be scared of the 12 cloves of garlic.
Not your typical chicken recipe! If you are tired of cooking the same old chicken recipes — try this one ! This one is from “Joy”. It is sophisticated and extremely flavourful. I use chicken thighs. I find them to have the most robust flavour of all chicken parts. The sauce is outstanding if you add some chilies and you will likely have some left over (it is great for a quick pasta dinner the next night). I am a novice cook and this dish really made me feel like a pro !
This is a really special entree, perfect for a holiday dinner.Serve the gently flavored sour cream sauce over spaetzle or buttered noodles with poppy seeds. From a 1987 Bon Appetit that featured a menu and recipes for A Fantasy Yuletide in Old Vienna. You may also use a 3 1/2 pound veal leg, boned and tied, instead of the veal shoulder.
I adapted this from a recipe I saw at Mediterranean Cooking in Alaska. I had been looking for ideas for red cabbage with mushrooms since I had both on hand. I was intrigued by their recipe, and adapted this one out of that, with some seasoning changes. It is a variation on rotkohl and I served it with (Cottage Ham) Recipe #493933, which paired together perfectly. Bill’s German culinary roots were screaming “Ya Buddy”!
