Luciana (from Curitiba, Brazil) taught me this. She grew up with this back home. It’s a white lasagne, with ground beef and ham slices. Conceptually similar to the familiar “red” lasagne, but a completely different taste. We loved it.
These are famous snacks in Brazil and are often served any time of day. They’re usually served with salsa.
I love churrasqueira chicken and have been looking for a recipe to make it myself. I found this on Breakfast Television Toronto’s web site. They got the recipe from Roasty Chicken Churrasqueira which is in the town of Maple just north of Toronto. A friend told me that she’s used this sauce for fish and shrimp, too. I’ve tried it on shrimp and it’s wonderful. Simply marinate the shrimp for an hour and then drain the shrimp, discard the sauce and grill the shrimp on the barbie.
I have not made this recipe, but after having been to Brazil a few times, and after having found this recipe in the Brazilian Children’s Fund Cookbook (Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center), I had to add this to my recipes. I hope it turns out as good as those I’ve tried in Brazil!
This is a very quick and easy recipe to do and it tastes great, hardley any preparation time, not many ingredients and you can have it on the table in about 40 minutes. My son and hubby love this one as do I because I don’t have to put much effort into it and we all want that during the week when we are busy. The dipping sauce also goes well with prawns, having said that it would also be great if you just wanted to make chicken tenders.
