Classic Belgian Waffle

These are the best waffles I have ever had. It is important. Be sure to whisk and fold the egg whites in. It makes a world of a difference.

Beer-Infused Belgian Waffles

This recipe is combination of Brussels waffles and Liege waffles. The sugar chunks caramelize as you cook, which makes them crunch and delicious. Light enough to serve with syrup for breakfast, but rich enough to serve with ice cream or sauces for dessert.

Pears Poached in Spiced Red Wine

From Ruth Van Waerebeek’s “Everbody Eats Well in Belgium Cookbook.” Ruth recommends this as an accompaniment to her Christmas Turkey. I make this once a year for Thanksgiving. Note: Prepare several hours prior to, if not the day before, serving.

Baby Turnips and Endive in Honey Mustard Dressing

WOW was I surprised at the fresh flavor in this crunchy salad. Both hubby and I really enjoyed it a lot – the dressing is the secret! If you don’t have baby turnips, feel free to add carrots, broccoli, cauliflower or another crunchy veggie. Adapted from a recipe from The Fruit Guys.
