Mean’s Basque Potatoes

A spicy full flavored version of roasted baby potatoes. I adopted this from the Recipezaar account and I am the very happy new owner of such a winner 🙂 Now that I have made it several times myself, I totally agree with reviewers recomendations to add carrots to this too. I have also added cubed sweet potato, but be aware that they will be fairly soft, rather than crunchy like the potatoes. A firm favourite in our home from now on ! Enjoy 🙂 Oven time depends on how much you are making.. mine took 45 minutes for the potatoes to be nice and crunchy. It serves 4 at our place… 6 would be fighting each other for the biggest serving LOL.

Bangladeshi Potato Kebabs!

This is easy and tasty with polawo, (a Bangladeshi or south Asian rice) or local fried rice. This is a bit hot and spicy, but really tasty. You may also eat it with Paratha (Bangladeshi, Indian or Pakistani bread). If you are eating without anything, then you may have some tomato ketchup.

Traditional Bahraini Muhammar – Sweet Rice Dish

This is one of the most famous Bahraini dishes. It is a sweet rice dish which is typically served with fish. I just wanted to add: this recipe calls for 6 cloves, HOWEVER, I think it REALLY ONLY NEEDS 2 cloves!

Bahraini Sweet Rice (Muhammar)

Wonderful, aromatic and flavourful! The best Muhammar I have made and I have tried a number! Very important to use a cast iron pan or heavy pan and lots of butter to form the crust part properly, this makes it way more flavourful as well. This is very good served with Gulf Arabian fish or shrimp dishes as it is traditional. Modified from a recipe found on http://desertcandy.blogspot.com. A great example this rice goes with is recipe#443922.
