Potato Flake and Honey Sourdough Starter
Create a flavorful sourdough starter with potato flakes & honey. Just mix, ferment, and enjoy homemade bread with this easy recipe!
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 cup of warm water
- 1 tablespoon of yeast
- 1 tablespoon of honey
- 1 cup of potato flakes
Instructions
-
In a large mixing bowl, combine the warm water, active dry yeast, and honey. Stir well to dissolve the yeast and honey completely.
-
Add the potato flakes to the mixture and stir until well combined.
-
Cover the bowl with a clean kitchen towel or plastic wrap and let it sit at room temperature for 24 hours. This allows the mixture to ferment and develop the sourdough culture.
-
After 24 hours, you should see some bubbles forming on the surface of the mixture. This indicates that the sourdough starter is active and ready to use.
-
At this point, you can use the sourdough starter to bake bread or store it in the refrigerator for future use. To maintain the starter, feed it with equal parts flour and water every few days, discarding half of the starter before each feeding.
