  • Total Time: 40 minutes

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 pound (about 450g) of paneer, cut into cubes
  • 1 cup of tomato puree
  • 1 onion, finely chopped
  • 1/2 cup of plain yogurt
  • 2 tablespoons of Vegetable oil
  • 1/2 teaspoon of garlic paste
  • 1 teaspoon of cumin
  • 1 teaspoon of ground coriander
  • 1/2 teaspoon of turmeric
  • 1/2 teaspoon of chili powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon of garam masala
  • salt
  • coriander (cilantro) for garnish

Instructions

  1. Sauté
Heat oil in a pan over medium heat. Add chopped onions and sauté until golden brown.
  2. Add
Add ginger-garlic paste and sauté for another minute until the raw smell disappears.
  3. Add
Add tomato puree, cumin powder, coriander powder, turmeric powder, red chili powder, and salt. Cook the masala until the oil starts to separate from it.
  4. Simmer
Reduce the heat to low and stir in the plain yogurt. Cook for a few minutes, stirring continuously to avoid curdling.
  5. Add paneer
Add cubed paneer to the masala and gently mix until the paneer is well-coated. Simmer for 5-7 minutes to allow the flavors to meld.
  6. Sprinkle
Sprinkle garam masala and garnish with fresh cilantro leaves.
  7. Serve
Serve the paneer masala hot with naan, rice or your favorite bread.
