Savor Carole’s Chocolate Crunchies: homemade bars with melted chocolate, nuts, and a hint of peppermint for a delightful crunchy treat!

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1/2 cup of softened butter
  • 2 cups of chopped walnuts
  • 1 cup of flour
  • 1/2 cup of brown sugar
  • 1 1/2 cups of powdered sugar
  • 1/2 cup of evaporated milk
  • 12 teaspoons of mint extract
  • 3 oz of unsweetened chocolate – melted

Instructions

  • Melt butter in a heavy skillet. Add walnuts, flour and brown sugar.
  • Blend and stir over heat until crumbs are toasted and golden brown. 5-7 minutes
  • Set aside and allow to cool.
  • In a mixing bowl, combine remaining ingredients.
  • Add cooled crumb mixture and mix together well.
  • Pour into a greased 9×9 square pan.
  • Chill at least 2 hours and cut into squares.
