Ingredients

  • 2 lbs beef stew meat
  • 2 tablespoons oil
  • 1 large onion, diced
  • 2 carrots, diced
  • 2 stalks celery, diced
  • 1 teaspoon garlic, minced
  • 12 ounces beer
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons marjoram
  • 1 tablespoon brown sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon celery seed
  • 1 bay leaf
  • to taste salt and pepper

Instructions

  1. Heat the oil in a soup pot.

  2. Toss the beef in flour.

  3. Add to the oil and brown.

  4. Add the remaining ingredients.

  5. Slowly.

  6. bring to a boil.

  7. Reduce the heat and simmer until all ingredients are tender (about 1 1/2 hours).

  8. Serve warm with hearty bread.
