Equipment

2 litre ovenproof dish, mixing bowl, sieve

Ingredients

  • 1 cup self-raising flour
  • 3/4 cup caster sugar
  • 2 tablespoons cocoa powder
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla essence
  • 30 g butter, melted
  • 3/4 cup firmly packed brown sugar
  • 1/4 cup cocoa powder
  • 1 3/4 cups hot water

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 180 degrees Celsius Grease an ovenproof dish around 2 litres.

  2. Sift flour, sugar and cocoa into a large mixing bowl.

  3. Add combined milk butter and vanilla essence and stir until smooth. Pour mixture into baking dish.

  4. Sift combined brown sugar and extra cocoa evenly over the top of the pudding mix.

  5. Gently pour the water over the pudding, using a spoon to break the flow.

  6. Transfer to oven and bake for approx 50mins.

  7. Serve hot from the oven, dusted with icing sugar, ice cream and or cream.
