This is posted for a request. It comes from a very old copy of a PWMU (Presbyterian Women's Missionary Union) cookbook. Crumbles are a favourite winter dessert for my family, and one I actually make, as they are so simple.

Equipment

Peeler, knife, saucepan, greased pie dish, oven

Ingredients

  • 6 apples (I would use red delicious or Granny Smith)
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 1/4 cup water
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 cup coconut
  • 1/4 cup rolled oats

  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon

Instructions

  1. Peel, core and slice the apples.

  2. Cook in water and sugar until soft.

  3. Place in a greased pie dish, cover with the combined topping ingredients.

  4. Bake in a moderate (350f) oven for 30 minutes.

  5. *Otherfruits may be used.
