Ingredients

  • 1/2 lb (2 sticks) of butter, salted
  • 1/2 lb (1/3 cups) of chocolate chips, plus 6 oz (1 cup) semisweet, divided
  • 3 oz of unsweetened chocolate
  • 3 egg(s), extra large
  • 1 tablespoon of vanilla extract
  • 1 cup of granulated sugar, plus 2 tablespoons
  • 1/2 cup of flour, +1 tablespoon, divided
  • 1 1/2 teaspoon of baking powder

Instructions

  1. Preheat Preheat oven to 350F (325F if using a dark non-stick pan). Grease and flour a 9 x 13 baking pan.

  2. Melt Melt together butter, chocolate chips, and unsweetened chocolate in a small bowl. Cool slightly. Stir together the eggs, vanilla, and sugar in a medium bowl. Stir in the warm chocolate mixture and cool to room temperature.

  3. Stir Stir together the flour and baking powder (and ½ tsp salt if you have unsalted butter). Add to cooled chocolate mixture. Toss the chocolate chips with the remaining flour (this keeps them from falling to the bottom of the pan and burning), then add to the chocolate batter. Pour into the baking pan.

  4. Bake Bake for about 30 mins, or until tester comes out clean. Halfway through the baking, rap the pan against the oven shelf to allow air to escape from the pan and brownie dough. Do not overbake! Cool thoroughly, refrigerate, and cut into squares.
