Ingredients
- 2 cups of flour
- 1 1/3 cups of granulated sugar
- 3/4 cup of cocoa powder (unsweetened)
- 1 1/2 teaspoons of baking powder
- 1 1/2 teaspoons of sodium bicarbonate (baking soda)
- 1 teaspoon of salt
- 2 egg(s)
- 1 cup of milk
- 1/2 cup of Vegetable oil
- 2 teaspoons of vanilla extract
- 1 cup of water
- 1 cup of chocolate chips
- 1/2 cup of heavy cream
- 2 tablespoons of butter
Instructions
Preheat Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a bundt cake pan.
Whisk In a large bowl, sift together flour, sugar, cocoa powder, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
Mix Add eggs, milk, vegetable oil, and vanilla extract to the dry ingredients. Mix until well combined.
Stir Stir in the boiling water slowly until the batter is smooth. Be careful as the batter will be thin.
Fold Fold in the dark chocolate chips (or chunks).
Bake Pour the batter into the prepared bundt pan and bake for 45-50 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
Cool Allow the cake to cool in the pan for 10 minutes, then transfer it to a wire rack to cool completely.
Prepare Dark Chocolate Ganache In a small saucepan, heat the heavy cream until it just begins to simmer.
Place the finely chopped dark chocolate in a heatproof bowl.
Pour the hot cream over the chocolate and let it sit for 1-2 minutes.
Stir the chocolate and cream mixture until smooth. Add the butter and stir until fully incorporated.
Let the ganache cool for a few minutes until it thickens slightly.
Drizzle Once the cake is completely cooled, pour the dark chocolate ganache over the bundt cake, allowing it to drip down the sides.
Serve Top with fruits or slivered almonds if desired. Slice and enjoy the rich, dark chocolate goodness!
Notes
I use Nordic Ware bundt pans for the pictured results. You can top this with fresh fruit, orange zest, slivered almonds, etc.
