This is a fun and exciting Christmas Pudding without alcohol. Steam for 4 hours, light afire with just sugar cubes and lemon extract!

  • Total Time: 4 hours 10 minutes

Ingredients

Pudding
  • 1 cup of suet, chopped
  • 1 cup of brown sugar
  • 1 cup of boiling water
  • 1 teaspoon of baking soda
  • 1 egg
  • 1 cup of bread crumbs
  • 1 cup of flour
  • 4 apples, grated
  • 2 teaspoons of cinnamon
  • 1 teaspoon of nutmeg
  • 1 teaspoon of cloves
  For flaming
  • Sugar Cubes
  • Lemon Extract - a few drops
  Vanilla Sauce
  • 1/2 stick of butter
  • 2 cups of water
  • 1 cup of brown sugar
  • 2 teaspoons of vanilla
  • 2 tablespoons of cornstarch

Instructions

Pudding

  1. Sift together dry ingredients
  2. Beat egg and mix with remaining ingredients (except for boiling water)
  3. Pour the boiling water over all mixed ingredients and stir together
  4. Steam for 4 hours

 

Sauce

  1. In a saucepan, combine the sugar and cornstarch. Whisk in the water, stirring until blended.
  2. Bring mixture to a boil and continue to cook for 1 minute, stirring constantly. Remove from heat and mix in the butter and vanilla. 
  3. You can pour it over the pudding while still warm or set aside for serving after the flaming and serve warm.

 

Set aflame!

  1. Pile sugar cubes into a heap on the pudding (without sauce)
  2. Pour a few drops of lemon extract on each cube
  3. Set on fire!
