Courtney’s Gingerbread Cake Family Recipe

			- 1/2 cup of butter
 - 1/2 cup of granulated sugar
 - 1 egg
 - 1 cup of molasses
 - 2 1/2 cups of flour
 - 1 1/2 teaspoon of sodium bicarbonate (baking soda)
 - 1/2 teaspoon of salt
 - 1 teaspoon of cinnamon, ground
 - 1 teaspoon of ground ginger
 - 1/2 teaspoon of ground cloves
 - 1 cup of water, hot
 
Instructions
- 
PreheatPreheat oven to 350F. Grease and flour 9 inch square pan
 - 
CreamCream together the sugar and butter. Add egg and beat well. Mix in the molasses.
 - 
Whisk dry ingredientsWhisk together the flour, baking soda, salt, cinnamon, ginger and clove.
 - 
CombineAdd dry ingredients to the creamed mixture. Add the hot water. Mix well.
 - 
PourPour batter into pan
 - 
BakeBake for 60-70 mins. Start checking with a toothpick in the center around 50 minutes. Foil top if it darkens too much.
 - 
Cool and serveAllow to cool in pan and serve with copious amounts of whipped cream and a sprinkle of cinnamon.
